When Pluto was discovered in 1930, by Clyde
Tombaugh, it was thought that it was the 9th planet from the sun. In 2006 the
definition of a planet was changed, and Pluto became known as a dwarf planet.
Pluto is the 2nd largest dwarf planet, after Eris. It is made of ice and rock,
and about one-sixth as large as the moon. Pluto has five known moons.
