cheesecakes and were shaped like a disk. Today's cakes are creations made with
flour, sugar, eggs and oil. The most common ingredients added to flavor cakes
are fruit purées, nuts, candied fruit and extracts. They are often filled with
fruit preserves or cream, and iced with frostings like butter cream frosting.
Cakes are the dessert of choice at weddings and birthdays.
