Did you know?... A group of hippos is called a pod.  The hippopotamus is one of the most dangerous animals in Africa.  They can outrun a human, moving in speeds up to 19 mph.  The hippopotamus is the third largest land mammal.  Hippopotamus inhabit rivers, lakes and swamps.  They stay in the water during the day to keep cool, and graze on the land to eat in the evening.  When hippopotamus are underwater, they must come up every 3 minutes for air.
