Delaware is a small state with a small population.  There are fewer than one million people in the whole state, and in size Delaware is the second-smallest state.  Delaware is just under 100 miles long and only 35 miles at its widest point. Delaware officially adopted the nickname of the  First State.  This nickname was given to them because they were the first to ratify the Constitution.

Did you know ...

Dover was founded in 1683 by William Penn. Dover is now the second-largest city in Delaware. The historic city of Dover is the capitol of Delaware. You will find the Capital Building along the St. Jones River.  The city's central square, known as The Green, was the location of many rallies, troop reviews, and other patriotic events.
