Florida is known as The Sunshine State.
Two-thirds of Florida is a peninsula that lies between the Gulf of Mexico and
the Atlantic Ocean. There are over 1,350 miles of coastline in Florida, which
does not even include the coastline of the many barrier islands. Tourists
flock to Florida each year to enjoy thebeaches and visit the theme parks.
Some of the world's best known theme parks are located in Florida, including
Disney World, Universal Studios, and The Epcot Center.

Did you know ...
In 1971 Disney World opened in Orlando, Florida.
Disney World is a huge park, covering 25,000 acres. The property includes four
theme parks and two water parks. There are hotels, camping areas, golf courses
and a shopping center in the park. Disney World is not to be confused with
Disneyland. Disneyworld opened in 1955 in Anaheim, California. Disney
World was originally opened as an extension of Disneyland.
