Wisconsin is in the north-central part of
the United States. The nickname of Wisconsin is The Badger State. The
nickname dates back to the 1830s. It goes back to the Wisconsin men who worked
in area mines and lived in caves. The caves were compared to badger dens.
Wisconsin is also known as America’s Dairyland because a lot of cheese
is made there. Wisconsin has a lot of Great Lakes coastline. It also contains
highlands, lowlands and plains. The largest city is Milwaukee. The capital

Wisconsin has more daily farms and makes more
cheese than any other state. The first cheese factory in Wisconsin was
established in 1841. Now there are more than 1,500 of them. Over 600 different
types of cheese are produced in Wisconsin. The tops two types of cheese produced
are Mozzarella and Cheddar.
